Introduction
The International Workshop on Parallel and Distributed Computing in Engineering (PDCE 2006) will be held in conjunction with the International Symposium on Parallel and Distributed Processing and Applications (ISPA 2006) in Sorrento, Italy, 1-4 December 2006. This workshop is an international forum for engineers, developers, and researchers to share experiences, discuss new ideas, and present results on all aspects of parallel and distributed computing applied to all branches of engineering. The program of the workshop will be a combination of paper presentations, invited talks and panel discussions.

Scope and Interests

The workshop invites papers from academia and industry on all aspects of parallel and distributed computing applied to branches of engineering, such as aeronautical, agricultural, automotive, bioengineering, biological, biomedical, chemical, civil, computer, control, electrical, electronics, environmental, forest, industrial, manufacturing, materials, mechanical, mechatronic, metallurgical, naval, nuclear, optical, transportation, petroleum. Papers may describe new architectures, algorithms, methods, techniques, tools and software applications. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

- Methods for parallel/distributed applications development;

- Parallel/distributed algorithms;

- Parallel/distributed application software;

- Parallel/distributed dedicated architectures;

- Parallel/distributed numerical methods;

- Parallel/distributed optimization methods;

- Parallel/distributed reconfigurable computing;

- Parallel/distributed simulations;

- Performance analysis of parallel/distributed applications;

- Real-time parallel/distributed computing;

- Techniques for parallel/distributed applications development;

- Tools for parallel/distributed applications development.

Submission Information

Submissions should include abstract, key words, the e-mail address of the corresponding author, and must not exceed 15 pages, including tables and figures, with PDF or PostScript format. Electronic submission through the submission website is strongly encouraged. In case of problems with the submission site, papers may be sent directly to pdce2006@pucminas.br. Submission of a paper should be regarded as a commitment that, should the paper be accepted, at least one of the authors will register and attend the workshop to present the work.

All submitted papers, presenting original and unpublished research, will be peer-reviewed for quality, correctness, originality, merit and relevance. Simultaneous submission to other journals or conferences with published proceedings is not allowed. The best papers will be awarded as the Best Paper or the Best Student Paper.

Proceedings
It is expected that the proceedings of the workshop will be published by Springer’s LNCS series or IEEE CS.

Important Dates
Paper submission due: August 9, 2006
Acceptance notification: September 6, 2006
Camera-ready due: September 20, 2006
