JPPF Admin UI doesn't display grid info
« on: March 24, 2014, 08:37:18 AM »

Hi team,

We are in the middle of Performance and Stress Testing of JPPF at the moment and faced one issue - JPPF Admin UI doesn't display anything about grid - no statistics, no topology info and etc.

Our topology: 1 server, 200 nodes, 4 clients with jppf.pool.size=50.
JPPF: 4.0.1
OS: Win2008

JPPF Admin UI works fine for topology: 1 server, 50 nodes, 1 client with jppf.pool.size=10.

Thanks,
Emin

Hi Emin,

For tracking purposes, I registered this as a JPPF bug: JPPF-238 Scalability issues with the administration tool
Currently, the various panels in the UI use timers with hardcoded refresh intervals. I have made these intervals configurable, using the following configuration properties:

Code: [Select]
# refresh interval for the statistcs panel in ms; defaults to 1000
# this is the interval between 2 successive stats requests to a driver
jppf.admin.refresh.interval.stats = 1000

# refresh interval for the topology panels: tree view and graph views in ms; defaults to 1000
# this is the interval between 2 successive runs of the task that refreshes the topology via JMX requests
jppf.admin.refresh.interval.topology = 1000

# refresh interval for the JVM health panel in ms; defaults to 3000
# this is the interval between 2 successive runs of the task that refreshes the JVM health via JMX requests
jppf.admin.refresh.interval.health = 3000

# UI refresh interval for the job data panel in ms; defaults to 33
# this is the interval between 2 refreshes of the UI from accumulated asynchronous JMX notifications
jppf.gui.publish.period = 33

I have uploaded the modified jars (binary and source, compatible with 4.0.1 client) here: http://www.jppf.org/private/4.0.2/jppf-admin-4.0.2.zip
Would you mind trying with this updated code and using higher values for the intervals, and let us know if this improves the responsiveness of the amdin tool?

Thanks,
-Laurent

Hi Laurent,

Many thanks. It works now. I have changed new intervals values according to our needs

Thanks again for the quick reply and improvement,
Emin
