New release announcement: JPPF 1.0 beta1
« on: July 31, 2007, 04:55:23 PM »

2 really major updates:
  • Starting from this version, JPPF is licensed under the Apache license, version 2.0. We made this choice to avoid concerns about LGPL being considered "viral" for Java.
  • The JPPF Resource adapter brings JPPF grid services to J2EE application servers.Docuemntation is available here

This is great news! Congratulations!

Please, could you explain the rationale behind the license change? Is JPPF still "Business Friendly"? I mean, can I use it in a corporate project which will never be open source? I know that a "Read The F*** License" is a reasonable answer, but I think that a longer explanation on why the license change here in the forums and an explicit (but short) mention on what can and cannot be done under such a license in the front page would be beneficial.

Thank you

Hello,

I apologize for being unclear on this license change.
Following your suggestion, I posted this article in an attempt at clarifying the situation.
I am considering how best to include something on the front page.
Your comments are very welcome.

As always, thank you very much for your contribution.
