client build path question
« on: December 04, 2006, 02:03:29 PM »

Hello,

i just tested which jar files i need on the classpath for the development of a new task: it seems i need
commons-io-1.2.jar
log4j-1.2.9.jar
jppf-client.jar
jppf-node.jar
jppf-common.jar

(removing any one of them produces errors, either runtime or compile-time).

is that correct? why do i need -node.jar?

I would very much appreciate it if there was one jppf jar file that i need to include, rather than 3. Maybe that is a question of taste (and thus non-resolvable).

I'll try to write an ant target for creation of a single jar and then share it with you.

Thanks,
Tilman

Hi Tilman,

You are raising a good point with the jppf-node.jar
It actually contains classes common to all JPPF components: client, server, nodes, admin tool. I get that the name is misleading and we'll change it.
How about jppf-common-node.jar?

Another thing I can add to our todo list is a switch in our build scripts to generate either a single jar file for each component, or multiple ones as it is now, or both. Is that acceptable?

Thank you very much for your feeback.

Just an update to say I registered a feature request for this:
"Enable the creation of single jar files for JPPF components"
